Five Influential Photo Books

One day, with my iPhone, I decided to photograph my favorite photo books.  Of all the photo books I own, these influenced me the most.

The first book from the left is Half Past Autumn, a collection of Gordon Parks’ photography throughout the years.  After many years of producing excellent photojournalism,  people mostly recognize Gordon Parks as the director of the first Shaft movie.

The second book, The Secret Paris of the 30’s, is by Brassai.  Brassai was a Hungarian mostly known for photographing Paris’s nightlife.  He just didn’t photograph any kind of nightlife either.  Brassai photographed characters like prostitutes and drag queens.

The third book, Erotique Derrieres, is a compilation of artistic booty photos by various photographers.

The fourth book, Naked City, is by Weegee.  Weegee was a photojournalist known for black and white photos of New York nightlife.  He followed emergency people and photographed them as they worked.

The fifth book, Drive-By Shootings,  is by David Bradford.  David Bradford photographed New York as he drove a Taxi.

From time to time, I still read and look through these books.
